Directed by company founder Jordan Reynosa, I worked alongside company members to adapt Chekhov's story. This was my first opportunity working with Beyond the Line Theatre Company.

The Lady with the Dog is a short story written by Anton Chekhov written in 1888. Our codirector, Mauri Hefley, read this story and wanted to bring it to life on stage. We as a company read the story and assisted in adapting the story into a script for the stage, while also utilizing physical theatre techniques. This is the second script I have assisted in adapting, the first being Charles Dicken's David Copperfield.

We ended up taking this show to the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival where we were awarded Outstanding Student Production for the 2021 Season.

Based on a short story by Anton Chekhov, this production has a modern twist that incorporates movement, ensemble, and music. This story details the intricacies surrounding a chance meeting between Anna and Gurov in the infamous town of Yalta. Anna is tired of her flunky husband and Gurov has grown bored of living his life passively. She is young, sweet and malleable. He is a father, emotionally hardened, and a misogynist. The exhilaration of a new connection takes over and both of them are seeking the warmth of someone new to fill the void, but are they prepared to handle the weight of those decisions?
